The outbreak of cassava mosaic disease in Thailand

According from the April 2025 document, the outbreak of cassava mosaic disease in Thailand has been reported in over 37 provinces, primarily in the northeastern region, along with some provinces in the western and lower northern regions. The total affected area exceeds 800,000 rai (calculated as 128,000 hectares)

Thailand reaches the summer weather, the favour insect for this season- spider mites seem to be a major concerned pest of cassava-prepares to monitor the outbreak should be warning.

Thailand has officially entered the summer season since the end of February (according to the Meteorological Department announcement). This period is characterized by little rainfall and hot to dry weather/conditions, which are favourable for several pest outbreaks.
